Gunny’s Live-Find Alert

Here’s another question: what is Gunny’s trained alert response when he finds a live subject? Hint: it’s in Chapter Fourteen of Ghosts of Iwo Jima.

Author: Joe Jennings

Joe Jennings is a K9 handler with a search and rescue team in northern Utah. He and his dog, Gunny (the real Gunny), are certified for live find in both wilderness and avalanches, and human remains recovery on both land and water. They have been on over eighty searches across the Intermountain West. Joe is also a retired U.S. Marine and a veteran of the Vietnam war. Joe is the author of two books in the Sam and Gunny K9 adventure series, Ghosts of Iwo Jima and Ghosts of the Buffalo Wheel. Both of these books were selected as finalists for best novel in the Dog Writers Association of America writing contest; Ghosts of Iwo Jima in 2017 and Ghosts of the Buffalo Wheel in 2018. A third book in the series, The Very First Dog, will be released early in 2019.
